The Barn Hub, Lincolnshire

Conversion, renovation to stone outbuilding to create a village hub within the conservation area.

Making simple alterations to the envelope of the barn to retain it's integrity meant creating fewer, but quality spaces that could share light through existing openings. The original stone and timber were left exposed with energy saving measures increased in other parts of the thermal envelope, to reduce the building's carbon footprint, whilst preserving the key attractive features. To ensure future commercial flexibility the structure was designed to allow installation of partition walls as required to suit changing brief without extensive alteration.
